Holo-Or Ltd. has released the 633-nm and 10.6-μm dual-wavelength lens. Surgical laser systems often use visible light for aiming the laser and infrared emission for treatment, and this lens corrects for chromatic aberrations that can occur because of the difference between these wavelengths. The planoconvex lens is made of ZnSe and is coated with antireflection material. It has transmission efficiencies of 99% at 10.6 μm and 93% at 632 nm. It can accept any beam shape and is expected to have a high damage threshold. The company can customize the diameters and focal lengths.
