The OPSL-980-500 from Coherent Inc. TeleCom Actives Group is a high-power, 980-nm, optically pumped VCSEL suitable for pumping erbium-doped fiber amplifiers in high-channel-count DWDM applications. It provides >500 mW of kink-free output from an internally cooled, single-sided, nine-pin, single-mode fiber-pigtailed package. The laser is spectrally stable over wide drive current and temperature ranges and is available with nominal operating wavelengths between 975 and 985 nm. It also displays low noise and low sensitivity to environmental temperature changes.
