The iXon blue electron EMCCD has been added to Andor Technology plc’s family of low-light-imaging cameras. Based on a blue-enhanced variant of a 512 x 512 back-illuminated EMCCD sensor, it is engineered to deliver >20% additional sensitivity to blue-wavelength photons. It offers enhanced quantum efficiency performance between 300 and 470 nm, −100 °C thermoelectric cooling, fast frame rates and a low spurious noise floor. It operates at 35 fps at full resolution and features a maximum readout rate of 10 MHz, 16 x 16 pixel size and an image area of 8.2 x 8.2 mm.
