High-power, low stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) erbium fibers for laser and lidar applications have been launched by Neolight Labs LLC. The company's single-clad fibers produce high peak power in a narrow linewidth, making them suitable as chassis for narrow-linewidth seeders or as preamplifiers to complement a dual-clad type, among other applications. The dual-clad fiber is designed for high peak powers and large pulse energies in narrow linewidth applications that require an eye-safe wavelength range. The company says that its SBS suppression capabilities do not depend on the fiber's length.
