Eight-Channel Pyroelectric DetectorsThe LRM-278 eight-channel pyroelectric detector from InfraTec GmbH is situated in a TO8 housing with a diameter of 15.2 mm.

The detector’s central window is built directly in the cap, and its large aperture of 8.5 × 8.5 sq mm results in a large field-of-view. On the special chip carriers inside the detector, the compensation elements and the 2- × 2-sq-mm filters are positioned on top of each other in a stacked design. With a total of eight channels, one field remains free for a temperature sensor, compensating the typical temperature drift of the filters accurately through calibration.

A high signal voltage simplifies the circuit design and allows the detector to become more resilient against disturbances. The higher signal levels support the easy integration of the detector into measuring modules. The LRM-278 can be used for complex tasks such as the analysis of medical and technical gases, the measurement of emissions, and the field of safety technology.
