PITTSBURGH, Sept. 26, 2022 — A line of 200-Gbps indium phosphide (InP) electro-absorption modulated lasers (EMLs) for high-speed datacenter transceivers has been announced by Coherent Corp.
The EML devices are designed for high reliability and signal integrity, enabling transceiver modules operating at data rates of 800 Gbps with four lanes and 1.6 Tbps with eight lanes for growth in high-speed data center connectivity. The high-performance EML chips feature a monolithically integrated electro-absorption modulator and laser that can be mounted in a low-cost nonhermetic package, providing cost-competitive laser devices for 800 G and next-generation 1.6-T data communication transceiver designs.
