Carl Zeiss Microscopy LLC has released the Elyra P.1 3-D superresolution light microscope for applications in the life and materials sciences.
Using PALM (photoactivated localization microscopy) or dSTORM (direct stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy) techniques, the device can localize fluorescently labeled structures in 3-D with resolutions down to 20 nm laterally and 50 nm axially. Users can correlate superresolution data with electron microscopy images.
