WATERLOO, Ontario, Canada, Sept. 16, 2011 — Teledyne Dalsa, a Teledyne Technologies company, has announced new optimized performance and improved functionality for its Spyder3 Camera Link and Gigabit-Ethernet Vision-compliant dual line-scan cameras for industrial inspection applications.

Originally launched in 2006, the Spyder3 cameras are suitable for OEMs and systems integrators. They provide a good signal-to-noise ratio using proprietary and patented dual line-scan sensor technology.

The new versions are more robust and can function better in extreme environments, including cotton and food inspection. Maximum operating temperature has increased from 50 to 65 °C.

Features include an improved graphical user interface for better ease of use and intuitive camera setup of exposure times, trigger modes and gain.

The cameras are now supported by Sapera Vision software, which offers a common development environment for the company’s full line of cameras and frame grabbers as well as hundreds of third-party camera models. It is updatable and offers comprehensive application-specific tools.

Other key features include 1-, 2- and 4-k resolutions with a 100% fill factor; line rates of up to 68 kHz; selectable high- or low-sensitivity mode; fully programmable gain and offset; and flat field correction.

Applications include flat panel display inspection, postal sorting, wood/tile/steel inspection, 100% print inspection, food inspection, web inspection, container inspection, and pick and place.
