WOBURN, Mass., April 3, 2013 — IDS Imaging Development Systems has released the Ensenso N10, a 3-D machine vision camera with a pattern projector that projects a high-contrast texture onto the object being captured, adding structures not visible or only faintly visible to the human eye.
When combined with a “semi-global matching” image comparison algorithm and two global shutter CMOS sensors, nearly all surfaces within the field of vision are captured. Besides capturing unstructured surfaces, the technology functions as part of multicamera operations.
A flexible USB 2.0 interface enables applications including medical engineering, logistics, completeness checking and rapid volume measurement. It also is qualified for space-sensitive industrial environments such as mounting on mobile robot heads.
The camera can capture static or moving objects at up to 30 fps and is optimized for working distances of 280 to 1400 mm. Image resolution is 752 × 480 pixels (WVGA).
A lockable 3-pin M8 sensor/actuator connector with GPIOs enables 12- to 24-V hardware trigger input and output. The camera’s software has an MVTec HALCON interface and an object-oriented API (C++), enabling integration into existing systems.
