A machine vision camera with 3-megapixel resolution that can detect both small and large objects with high precision in the production line has been released by Mikrotron GmbH.
The compact EoSens 3CL CMOS high-speed camera has a full Camera Link interface, measures 63 × 63 × 54 mm, and provides functions and features for high-quality imaging. At maximum resolution of 1696 × 1710 pixels, the camera delivers a frame rate of 285 fps. The integrated and adjustable region of interest function enables operation at 628 fps with 1280 × 1024-pixel resolution, 893 fps at 1280 × 720, and 816 fps at 1000 × 1000. It achieves a stepless adjustable frame rate of up to 285,000 fps at reduced resolution.
The full Camera Link interface with 850 MB/s ensures a high data rate with real-time capability. With a pixel size of 8 × 8 μm and a high fill factor, light sensitivity of 1200 ASA (American Standards Association) monochrome and 1000 ASA RGB is produced. Due to the switchable nonlinear dynamic range adjustment that enables changing of the sensor’s linear range into a nonlinear one, the camera produces an internal dynamic range of up to 90 dB. Even in the case of extreme dark-light contrasts, it provides precise image details.
Spectral bandwidth is from 400 to 900 nm, pixel clock is 80 MHz, and maximum power consumption is 5 W.
The freeze-frame full frame global electronic shutter from 1µs to 1s processes and stores a complete frame while exposing the next image. At exposure times down to 2 µs, fast moving objects can be captured with high definition and recorded distortion-free in synchronous, free-run and asynchronous triggered modes. Lenses can be connected with a C- or an F-mount adapter.
