HACKENSACK, N.J., Dec. 5, 2012 — A one-component LED-curable system from Master Bond Inc. offers fast cure speeds.
LED401 is based on LED technology. The adhesive, sealant, coating and encapsulant cures tack-free upon exposure to a 405-nm-wavelength light source, without any oxygen inhibition. Optically clear, it is also safer and easier to handle than similar UV systems because LED lights emit less heat than UV lamps.
The high-viscosity system at 100,000 to 150,000 cycles per second maintains its convenient handling and ability to flow. With cure times of ≤15 to 30 s in thinner sections, depending upon the distance of the light source from the material being cured, it can also be readily cured in sections up to ?-in. thick. It bonds well to similar and dissimilar substrates, including plastics, metals and ceramics, and it adheres to glass, polycarbonates and acrylics.
LED401 offers resistance to water, many acids, bases and oils. It has good electrical insulation properties. Serviceable over the temperature range of −60 to 250 °F, it features good dimensional stability.
It has a shelf life of six months at room temperature without exposure to light and in its original containers. It is available in syringes, half-pints, pints, quarts, gallons and five-gallon containers. Other versions are available with different viscosities and in an opaque white color.
Formulated for bonding, sealing, coating and encapsulation applications, optically clear LED401 offers good light transmission and rapid LED cures.
