Er/Yb Doped Fibers for fiber amplifiers & lasers iXblue offers a wide range of erbium/ytterbium codoped optical fibers for high-power CW or pulsed fiber amplifiers and lasers. The fibers have been optimized to address the specific requirements of high efficiency and low noise for high-power fiber lasers and amplifiers, with applications in medical lasers, LIDAR, CATV, and Free space Optical Communication links. With a broad choice of designs: double-clad, double-clad all-glass, and tripe clad versions, iXblue erbium/ytterbium codoped optical fibers guarantee high efficiency, low background losses, high and consistent pump absorption and weak parasitic 1-μm emission. High temperature coating and dedicated core composition are available for harsh environment as well as space optical telecommunication links.

Focus on addressing the various challenges of LIDAR applications

The Lidar performance depends strongly on the pulse characteristics: high-energy pulses and beam quality (for longer reach), high repetition rate (for faster acquisition), narrow linewidth (for higher measurement resolution). iXblue solution to address the long reach LIDAR needs is a highly doped, Large Mode Area (LMA), low NA, Polarization Maintaining fiber with a 300 µm pump guide to harness the power of high-power laser diode. iXblue IXF-2CF-EY-PM-30-300 Er/Yb fiber combines all the characteristics above enabling high power operation. SBS thresholds are reached only at very high power, thanks to the large single mode area reducing the power density. The high absorption allows for short gain fiber length pushing further the SBS power threshold, while the low NA allows for a good beam quality.
