Optics in Motion LLC says that its line of fast-steering mirrors costs significantly less than other mirrors of this type yet offer similar performance. The company's voice-coil-actuated mirror has two axes of tip/tilt angular motion. An advantage of the device is the integrated optical position sensor, which allows performance specifications such as bandwidth of 1 kHz and resolution of 1 µrad. The mirrors are employed in optical systems that require highly accurate and precise beam pointing, scanning or correction, such as in free-space communications, micromachining and laser eye surgery.
