The Pixci CL3SD frame grabber combined with the Basler A504k camera, both available from Epix Inc., can capture images with 1280 x 1024 resolution at 500 fps. Windowing enables lower resolutions at up to 16,000 fps. The frame grabber, for the 32-bit PCI bus, operates in a Pentium III or IV computer, and image sequences are captured in up to 4 GB of onboard synchronous DRAM. Multiple cameras and frame grabbers of these models can be installed in one computer and synchronized to provide simultaneous views of a motion event. The A504k camera, available in color or monochrome, has a CMOS sensor and a full-frame electronic shutter.
