Vytran’s FAS -- Fiber Automation System -- is a flexible automation platform that can be easily configured for a wide variety of optoelectronic manufacturing applications, such as EDFA assembly and fiber Bragg grating production. By fully automating the assembly process, the FAS can dramatically improve the yield and quality of a product while significantly reducing system costs. For fusion splicing applications, the FAS can be configured with modules for coating removal and fiber cleaning, fiber cleaving, fusion splicing, recoating and proof testing. A measurement module is also available to full integrate test and measurements into the automation process. All module and system control is fully programmable through a single machine interface that provides real-time process control and convenient network and database access. FAS systems have been in continuous production use for well over three years and have been proven to be extremely reliable. And with the modular nature of these systems, they can be easily reconfigured to suit changing production requirements.
