Blue Sky Research Blue Sky Research has released its FiberTec line of laser modules that incorporate control, monitor and drive electronics; a thermoelectric cooler; microlens optics; and single-mode fiber pigtail in a 71 X 24 X 15-mm package. The first products commercially available offer up to 15 mW of 405-nm light or up to 25 mW of 635-nm light. The devices provide a near-Gaussian beam with low aberration and can offer other beam profiles with the installation of optional collimating or filtering optics. Sample volumes are available for 440-, 473-, 658-, 690- and 785-nm versions of the laser modules. The company says that, because the beam delivery system is separated from the diode laser itself, beam quality and stability considerations are greatly simplified.
