The ConnCert 100 is a complete fiber optic end-face inspection and certification system that allows users to change inspection parameters based on programmed requirements and to program pass/fail criteria for various zones across the face of the fiber. Prior Scientific Inc. says that the system provides accurate and repeatable results conforming to stringent fiber optics standards and that its software eliminates the subjectivity of human inspection. ConnCert 100 detects and measures defects down to 0.3 µm, including pits, groups and chains of pits, scratches, curved scratches, chips at the fiber edge and particulate contamination. It has an autofocusing system, and it can be used with the company's bench fiber optic inspection microscope, which offers steady LED illumination and an adjustable centering mechanism.
