The MPX-1 from Arden Photonics Ltd. is a system for measuring the mode power distribution in optical fiber, both directly and using international standard parameters such as coupled power ratio and encircled flux. Its control software enables direct measurement of the distribution power among the various modes in multimode fiber by analyzing the near-field distribution at the end of a fiber patch cord using high-speed video and image processing techniques. Real-time visualization enables the study of the effects of mode filters and fiber handling. Test fibers can be connected to the MPX-1 with industry-standard connectors, and measurements are performed at 850 nm.FIBER OPTIC MODE PROFILING
