The EPP2000-UVN-SR fiber optic spectrometer for UV, visible and near-IR applications has been announced by StellarNet Inc. Covering the 200- to 1100-nm range, it is supplied with a high-speed USB 2.0 interface and SpectraWiz software. It includes a 2048-element (3648 optional) CCD or photodiode array detector with extreme grating optics technology. The optics have no moving parts, resulting in shockproof durability, and the spectrometer includes an integrated multiband order-sorting filter and a UV-enhanced detector array with an optical lens for high sensitivity. Resolution is better than 0.75 nm. The portable instrument is packaged in a small rugged metal enclosure for use with single-strand fiber optic input cable. Dynamic range is 2000:1 with six decades. Pixel size is 14 × 200 μm.
