KrellTech.jpgThe Radian bare fiber polishing system from Krell Technologies Inc. polishes fibers at user-selectable angles for research, development and low-volume manufacturing applications. It features a real-time video system with 60× magnification for monitoring the polishing process and an in-line microscope that allows inspection of the polished surface while the fiber is still in the system. The surface inspection offers 200× to 400× magnification and coaxial illumination. Adapters are available for a variety of fiber types and diameters. Polarization-maintaining fibers can be aligned to the proper polarization axis before they are polished. The polisher has an angle range of 0 to 25°, angle tolerance of typically ±0.5°, random orbital motion and user-adjustable cycle time. The film size is 4 in. in diameter. BNC connectors are used for video interface.
