RICHMOND, British Columbia, Canada, Sept. 21, 2012 — Point Grey Research Inc. has expanded its line of Flea3 USB 3.0 cameras with the FL3-U3-13E4C/M-C color and monochrome models. They use the fast and sensitive EV76C560 global shutter CMOS image sensor from e2v to deliver high-quality 1.3-megapixel images at 60 fps.
Global shutter mode offers distortion-free motion capture, and electronic rolling shutter mode delivers low read noise and improved dynamic range. The cameras are used in 3-D scanning, characterization of parts, and eye and gesture tracking. The CMOS image sensor makes the cameras suited for outdoor imaging applications, such as intelligent traffic systems, where smear must be minimized.
They measure 29 × 29 × 30 mm and feature a 32-MB frame buffer; on-camera power, temperature and status monitoring; and in-field updatable firmware. They provide a full image processing pipeline, including color interpolation, look-up table, gamma correction and pixel binning.
