For its Professional and XL series lasers, Universal Laser Systems Inc. has announced a High Power Density Focusing Optics option that is interchangeable with the standard lenses included with the systems. The company says that the optics reduce the focused spot size by expanding the diameter of the laser beam. They also enable finer and more detailed engraving, produce higher-resolution graphics and photographs, vector mark and cut thinner lines, and increase cutting depth. Scribing and etching can be performed directly on some uncoated metals, such as stainless steel, without the use of marking compounds.
