Interspectrum OU has released the Interspec 300-X series portable Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers. The quality control and safety analyzers are suitable for standard laboratory measurements and for detecting and identifying hazardous substances in the field. They are sensitive from 400 to 7000 cm–1, with resolution of 2 cm–1. The 301-X model has an open-IR-beam optical scheme for using any FTIR accessory in the open sample chamber. The 300-X has integrated reflection and transmission accessories. The company says that the devices are easy to use and able to withstand the temperature and vibration conditions found outside the lab. They measure 490 × 400 × 210 mm, weigh about 18 kg, and interface to a PC or laptop to obtain results on-site.
