ANN ARBOR, Mich., Feb. 1, 2011 — The Femtolite FX-100i introduced by IMRA America Inc. is a compact femtosecond fiber laser that produces >100 mW at 805 nm. Measuring 14 × 10 × 8 cm and weighing 1.4 kg, the laser head has the same footprint as the company's Femtolite Ultra series of miniature femtosecond fiber lasers, an advantage for system integration.
With sub-120 fs pulses at a repetition rate of 75 MHz and typical pulse energy of 1.6 nJ, the new laser is a suitable replacement for Ti:sapphire. Target laboratory and industrial OEM applications include terahertz wave generation, spectroscopy, imaging and detection; multiphoton fluorescence microscopy; stereolithography; and second-harmonic imaging.
The CE-compliant laser is easy to operate directly from the front panel controls or remotely via an RS-232 interface. The fiber-based design ensures that no adjustment, alignment or optical tweaking is required.
Power stability is <3% over 1 h, operating temperature is from 20 to 30 °C, and warm-up time is <15 min. The system is air-cooled.
