VICTOR, N.Y., Aug. 14, 2015 —
A compact, turnkey system for bioimaging applications, a new laser from Toptica Photonics Inc. provides femtosecond pulses with high average power and beam quality in the near-infrared range.
The FemtoFiber Ultra NIR generates frequency-doubled pulses centered at 780 nm with a pulse duration of <150 fs, a repetition rate of 80 MHz and an average power of >500 mW.
The laser integrates a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror mode-locked ring-fiber oscillator, a high-power fiber amplifier and polarization-maintaining erbium-doped fibers.
The system is suitable for nonlinear microscopy applications such as effective two-photon excitation of fluorescent proteins and contrast mechanisms based on second-harmonic generation.
