Femtosecond LaserSpectra Physics Inc. has announced the femtoTrain 1040-5 femtosecond laser, a compact, fixed wavelength device that delivers high energies and peak powers.

The laser offers <220-fs pulse widths, >0.5-mJ pulse energies and >2-MW peak powers, allowing for use in medical and bioimaging applications including optogenetics for photoactivation and microsurgery.

The platform provides high beam quality, low noise and long-term stability with an output of  >5 W at a 10-MHz repetition rate in the IR range of 1040 nm. The laser is equipped with long-life diodes and an ultrastable sealed optical cavity design.
