WOBURN, Mass., May 7, 2012 — Innovations in Optics Inc. has unveiled its LumiBright FC fiber-coupled LED light engines. The solid-state light sources replace lasers and arc lamps in fiber optic applications in industrial, life sciences and laboratory equipment.
They are suitable for illumination for borescopes, microscopes, machine vision, phototherapy, medical endoscopy and UV curing as well as for OEM life sciences instrumentation such as gel and blot imagers, real-time polymerase chain reaction systems, cytometers, colony counters, microplate and gene array readers, evaporative light-scattering detectors (ELSDs) for high-performance liquid chromatography and label-free systems using surface plasmon resonance.
The light engines feature patented nonimaging optics and high-brightness LED arrays, which are available with single or multicolor options in spectral distribution ranging from 365 nm through the near-infrared as well as broadband white. The small footprint enables integration into OEM or end-user systems configured for tabletop, rack-mounted and portable handheld devices.
They provide intense and stable optical power, short warm-up time, energy efficiency, low maintenance and long life. Models are available that accept fiber core diameters from 1 to 8 mm. Supplied fiber cable connectors can be industry-standard types or custom ferrules designed upon request. Accessories include thermal management devices, wire harnesses and driver/controllers.
