Fiber-Coupled Tailored Bar
DILAS Diodenlaser GmbHRequest Info
MAINZ, Germany, Feb. 26, 2013 — Dilas’ fiber-coupled tailored laser bar meets the critical metric of <1 kg/kW of overall module weight to optical output power while maintaining nearly 50% efficiency. The fiber-coupled module produces >300-W output power at 976 nm from a 200-µm, 0.22-numerical-aperture fiber in a package weight of ~300 g. The device is of suitable brightness to meet the requirements for flyable systems on lightweight aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The key innovation is the combination of the high-power, high-brightness tailored diode laser bar and the lightweight, compact, low-thermal-impedance heat sink. Micro-optics attachment is completely automated, optimizing the beam quality from the diode laser bar and enabling high-efficiency fiber coupling.
In addition to defense applications, it can be used in industrial and medical markets.
