JENA, Germany, March 15, 2007 -- High-power diode laser maker Jenoptik Laserdiode GmbH has introduced its new passively cooled fiber-coupled diode laser module (JOLD-100-CPXF-2P W/JOLD-140-CPXF-2P W) and a passively cooled diode laser on an industry-standard mount (JOLD-x-CPNN-1L/JOLD-200-QPNN-1L).Jenoptik.jpg
The JOLD-100-CPXF-2P W/JOLD-140-CPXF-2P W, a new passively cooled fiber-coupled diode laser module from Jenoptik Laserdiode GmbH.

The quality of the semiconductor material provided by subsidiary Jenoptik Diode Lab GmbH, coupled with Jenoptik Laserdiode's assembly technology, has led to a substantial output increase, the company said.

The fiber-coupled modules with 400-µm fiber (NA 0.22), which have been available with 75 W CW (continuous wave), are now offered with 100 W CW optical output power at wavelengths between 915 and 980 nm. The type with 600-µm fiber (NA 0.22) now can operate at 140 W CW output power (940 and 980 nm) or at 100 W CW output power (808 nm).

The JOLD-100-CPXF-2P W/JOLD-140-CPXF-2P W features integrated temperature sensors (PT100 and PT1000), a pilot laser and can be cooled with industrial water corresponding to the needs of industry. Optionally, the diode laser module is also available with a lower power level of 75 W CW including integrated TECs. The diode laser module is suitable for pumping solid-state lasers and fiber lasers, as well as for applications in the medical and material processing market.

Jenoptik Laserdiode's passively cooled diode laser on industry-standard mounts (25 mm x 25 mm), completes its successful line of highly efficient conduction-cooled products, the company said. The JOLD-x-CPNN-1L/JOLD-200-QPNN-1L emits 80 W CW at 808 nm and 100 W CW between 915 and 976 nm or 200 W in pulse mode (quasi-continuous wave) at 808 nm from one high-efficiency bar. This makes a range of optical output powers with easy to use conduction cooling accessible, which so far required cooling with deionized water.

The product has a typical operation current of 112 A (93 A at 808 nm) and a maximum operating voltage of 1.8 V (2.0 V at 808 nm) in continuous-wave mode (pulse mode: operation current 180 A, maximum operating voltage 2.2 V). As a feature, the diode laser is also available with fast axis collimation with 90 percent of initial optical output power within 0.5°. As with all the other conduction-cooled types of high-power diode lasers, this easy to operate, highly reliable and long living diode laser is used for several applications, e.g. pumping of solid-state lasers or material processing and medical applications, according to Jenoptik Laserdiode.
