SCORESBY, Australia, Feb. 23, 2010 – The KI 6610 FiberSafe microscope manufactured by Kingfisher International P/L is a handheld field-portable scope used to inspect fiber optic connector end-face quality and is used by fiber optic technicians and installers requiring simple, rugged and affordable test gear.
The microscope’s features include good overall ergonomics, intuitive operation, high-quality eye safety filters for red and infrared light, clear safety labeling, easy focus and X-Y alignment image centering, and stabilized LED illumination with a timer.

Power is provided by a single AAA alkaline battery, or from an external micro-USB lead. Triple illumination options include coaxial for high-level image detail, oblique for revealing only major defects and contaminants, and core illumination that shows continuity and subsurface fiber core cracks. The scope can inspect duplex patch leads, and a variety of connector adaptors is available, including 2.5- and 1.25-mm PC/APC types to fit both simplex and duplex connectors. It is supplied with a soft carry case and an adapter ring for various scope connector adapters.
The illumination level is regulated and unaffected by battery voltage, and a low battery is indicated by flashing illumination. Operating temperature is from -15 to 55 °C, and the microscope damage power level is 30 dBm.
In addition to field use, a combination of features makes this scope convenient for bench use, and it offers tripod or lanyard mount.
It inspects optical connector end faces in the field or factory, single- and multimode fiber, and single and dual connectors. It is available in 200× and 400× magnification versions
