A system for inspection of fibers between 100 and 1000 μm in diameter has been released by Arden Photonics Ltd. The VF-20 Trio has three user-selectable settings with 150-, 500- and 1000-μm-diameter fields of view and operates in “inspect” and “interferometric” modes, eliminating the need for separate inspection equipment for checking end-face quality and flatness. Analog and digital outputs enable use with a video monitor or computer, and the system also is suitable for use with Vytran and other splicer holders.
