MANASQUAN, N.J., Oct. 15, 2014 — The 8800 series of fiber optic test links by Delaire USA approximates the IEEE 802.3 standard worst-case fiber lengths and bandwidths using real fiber.

The company offers a test link for each of the 40- and 100-Gigabit Ethernet variants. Bandwidth lengths are spooled to within an accuracy of ±0.06 percent. The 40-Gb model uses four spools of engineered OM3 or OM4 fiber, while the 100-Gb model uses 10 spools.

The new series allows data-farm installers to conduct Layer 1 tests on routers and servers at their facilities prior to arriving at installation sites, and avoids costly installation and commissioning delays. It allows system manufacturers to qualify transceivers for use in their systems, and maintain quality and performance levels.
