Fiber Optic Transceiver, Transponder, Link
II-VI Finisar
SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 24, 2015 — Finisar Corp. has announced its CFP2-ACO coherent transceiver, supporting 100-G QPSK and 200-G 16QAM applications, as well as a flex-rate coherent transponder with internal digital signal processing and a 100-G ultralong fiber optic link.
The transceiver uses linear radio-frequency drivers to support any modulation formation from 40/50-G BPSK to 200-G 16QAM. Separate lasers for transmission and reception allow the module to support different wavelengths in each direction. The device enables system vendors to offer high-density pluggable interfaces supporting 1 Tb/s or more on a line card.
The transponder offers high output powers up to +7 dBM. Supported by embedded Lightspeed II CL20010 DSP, the module provides tolerance for optical signal-to-noise ratio and extended chromatic dispersion, reducing the need for regeneration. Applications include use in transport and routing systems.
The fiber optic link does not require repeaters and is used to extend the reach of traditional telecom systems in applications such as oil, gas, mining, energy and transportation.
