BEAVERTON, Ore., April 1, 2019 — The S14 Fiber Refractive Index Profiler from Photon Kinetics is a tool for developers and manufacturers of optical fiber.

The device assesses waveguide structure and determines fiber geometric properties such as core and cladding diameter, concentricity, and noncircularity. The ability to calculate both mode field diameter and effective area of fibers using the acquired refractive index profile data is included in the standard software. This new capability, combined with graphical user interfaces for both R&D and routine production measurements, is ideal for use in fiber refractive index profiling and comprehensive waveguide characterization.

The S14 is RoHS compliant and features a USB control interface.
