CRANSTON, R.I., July 28, 2022 — Fiber SwitchThe Model 6240 Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) A/B Fiber Switch with Serial RS232 remote has been announced by Electro Standards Laboratories.

The switch’s COMMON port has access to fiber optic network A when in the A position, and the fiber optic network B is connected when in the B position. The DB9 Remote port accepts ASCII RS232 serial commands that allow the user to remotely control switch position. With a transmission distance of 75 m and a multimode duplex fiber type, the switch features a speed of up to 1 Mbps and a 660-nm wavelength.
