LAWRENCE, Mass., Dec. 7, 2012 — The UDS-1100 from Spectral Evolution is suited for surface reflectance measurements where it is inconvenient or impractical to take frequent reflectance panel reference scans, especially on days with shifting cloud cover. It measures upwelling and downwelling simultaneously. It can be mounted easily in towers and features built-in DARWin data analysis software that permits automatic reflectance scanning for unattended operation.
Spectral range is from 320 to 1100 nm.
The software captures and plots upwelling and downwelling at the same time with one measurement. Users can plot data and review results in radiometric or photometric units, and single and multiple spectral plots are available. Current scans can be compared against libraries, and the software automatically saves data as an ASCII file to third-party software.
Applications include vegetation studies; research on forest canopies; crop and soil scanning; ocean studies of algae and aquatic plants and the amount of light available to them; water studies researching environmental quality; climatic studies of snow, ice, water and land; hydrologic studies; and studies of aerosols in the atmosphere.
