Fluorescing adhesives

Dymax Corp. has unveiled the Ultra-Red fluorescing technology for use in bond-line inspection. It can be formulated into any of the company’s adhesive products, with no effect on the biocompatibility of the formulation. When incorporated into a UV-curable adhesive, the product will remain clear until exposed to light with a 360- to 380-nm wavelength, at which point it will fluoresce bright red. The company says that the additive does not absorb in that range, which results in faster and deeper cures as compared with the same adhesives containing blue fluorescence.
