The Matrox Radient eCL Camera Link frame grabber from Matrox Imaging now supports the company’s Altera Stratix IV processing field-programmable gate arrays. With more processing elements, the Stratix IV allows greater parallelism; coupled with higher clock rates, it enables higher-throughput image processing. By offloading and accelerating image processing, the configuration frees up the host CPU so that it is not overwhelmed by standard tasks such as filtering, transforms and flat-field correction.
