CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 31, 2012 — The GA640C-15A from Sensors Unlimited Inc., part of Goodrich Corp., is a compact short-wavelength infrared (SWIR) camera.
With a volume of <1 cubic inch, it weighs 26 g without its lens and consumes only 1.5 W. It is suitable for integration into handheld, helmet- or weapon-mounted surveillance devices, unmanned aircraft, and any ground or maritime imaging system where size, weight and power consumption must be minimal.
The camera features 640 × 512-pixel resolution with a 15-μm pitch. The Camera Link digital output offers plug-and-play 12-bit imagery for viewing, digital processing and/or transmission. The uncooled SWIR detector images in real-time video (30 Hz), daylight to low light, and through smoke, haze and fog. It operates without temperature stabilization using nonuniformity corrections parameterized over temperatures. It also provides onboard automatic gain control for hands-free operation.
The SWIR C-platform model operates over the 0.9- to 1.7-μm spectral range, and the near-infrared version extends the spectral response from 0.7 to 1.7 μm. Operating temperature ranges from −35 to 71 °C.
