The compact PhotoDoc-It imaging system for basic documentation of gels and plates is configured for limited laboratory space. Available from UVP Inc., it generates color images with a 6-megapixel digital color camera that attaches to the lightweight hood on the transilluminator. Operators may select from several benchtop transilluminators with a choice of single- or multiple-UV wavelengths and filter sizes. A compact color printer connects directly to the camera to provide 4 × 6-in. laboratory-quality prints in seconds. Images also can be saved to a camera memory card or linked to a computer for viewing. The optional Doc-It LS analysis software offers additional image enhancement, analysis and report features. The system is designed as a replacement for Polaroid camera systems.
