MADISON, Ala., March 19, 2007 -- High-speed camera maker Southern Vision Systems Inc. (SVSi) announces a significant upgrade to its GigaView high-speed camera system. GigaView can now stream high resolution digital video to hard disk for over eight hours through its Gigabit Ethernet interface.

GigaView.jpgWith its burst and continuous modes, GigaView is a dual-use system that reduces the time required to realize return on investment, SVSi said. Conventional mode records 1280 x 1024 images at 530 fps to onboard memory for up to 30 sec. -- providing the high image resolution and slow-motion analysis required to quickly identify phenomena and solve problems. Continuous mode records 640 x 480 images at 250 fps for up to eight hours to record momentary disruptions, external interference, or equipment failures over long periods of time. GigaView can perform both tasks at once by bursting to onboard memory while in streaming mode.

According to SVSi, GigaView sets the industry standard with features such as image-cued triggering, memory sector recording, 10-bit grayscale and autoexposure. For monitoring applications, all of these features are still available when storing to onboard memory in addition to real-time streaming of digital video over the Gigabit Ethernet interface.

Software included with each GigaView system allows for quick set up, recording and playback of burst and continuous video. Standard software features such as an easy-to-see focus indicator, video playback while recording, and intuitive controls for gain, autoexposure, and triggering make for the easiest-to-use high-speed camera on the market, the company said.

GigaView’s streaming feature is currently shipping and will be demonstrated at South Pack on April 24-26 in Atlanta (Booth 1154). For more information on SVSi high-speed camera systems, visit:; e-mail:
