Glacier X Spectrometer
B&W Tek LLCRequest Info
B&W Tek Inc. has unveiled Glacier X, a thermoelectrically
cooled miniature fiber-coupled spectrometer, for applications that require high
performance and portability. It is equipped with a 2048-element linear CCD array,
a 16-bit digitizer and a plug-and-play USB 2.0 interface that transfers data at
a rate of up to 180 spectra per second. Compared with noncooled CCD spectrometers,
the device offers a higher dynamic range, reduced dark counts and good baseline
stability, making it suitable for low-light-level detection and long-term monitoring
applications, according to the company. The thermoelectric cooling makes it possible
for weak signals, such as fluorescence and Raman, to be integrated for sufficient
time to accumulate measurable signals for detection, resulting in a good signal-to-noise
ratio. Applications include UV, visible and near-IR spectroscopy.
