With a simple driver update, the functional scope of the 1.3-megapixel global shutter CMOS cameras from IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH can now be expanded to include two new features. Besides a multiple area-of-interest (AOI) mode with up to four AOIs, the area-scan cameras now can be operated in line-scan mode. This enables line-by-line image capture with a full horizontal resolution of 1280 pixels at up to 64 kHz. The new functions also are immediately available to cameras of this type with a USB or Gigabit Ethernet connection already being used in the field, after loading updated driver version 3.80.
