Green PM Series Lasers for Surgery

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Dec. 8, 2011 — Power Technology Inc. has launched a green-wavelength version of its PM series laser module. Designed for medical and surgical applications, the company says it performs better than red lasers on dark-colored or pigmented skin and on red tissue. Green-wavelength lasers also are easier to identify under the extremely bright light conditions in the operating room environment.

The PM visible laser diode module is designed for use by OEM medical and surgical manufacturers for easy integration into existing and prototype low-power lasers. It incorporates a single-mode laser, single-element glass collimating optics or line-generating optics, and the power supply into a single unit.

It measures 12.6 mm in diameter, is 50.93 mm long and is available with input voltages ranging from 6 to 8 VDC. Optical output power and fine focus are adjustable, and optical output power digital control also is available.

The laser delivers an output power of 20 mW at 515 nm.
