Spectra-Physics, a Newport Corp. Brand, has unveiled the Explorer XP 532-5, a midpower green Q-switched diode-pumped solid-state laser. The 5-W device combines the laser head and electronics into a single package that fits in the palm of your hand. It features an air-cooled design, offering good thermal management of <100 W under normal operating conditions. The package weighs <3 kg, making it easy to integrate into machine tools, and it is suitable for use on moving gantries in solar cell, LED and microelectronics manufacturing, and in laser-marking applications. The industrial laser delivers a short pulse width for a minimum heat-affected zone and high-quality microprocessing, and high peak power for marking or selective ablation tasks.
