The Amp Netconnect division of Tyco Electronics has added a handheld fiber optic microscope to its product line. The ~7-in.-long device weighs <0.5 lb and offers 2003 magnification, a 500-µm field of view, and LEDs that provide coaxial and oblique illumination and deliver service for 100,000 h. Suitable for general and polish-quality inspections, it includes an IR laser attenuation filter, a safety neck lanyard, a padded carrying case and a universal 2.5-mm adapter. Interchangeable universal and dedicated connector adapters also are available.
