A high-gain, hybridized photodetector for OEM applications has been released by Advanced Photonix Inc. The CMOS amplifier works with a low-input bias current of 10 fA. A dark-current PIN photodiode is integrated with a 600-M(omega) transimpedance amplifier and is sealed in an airtight TO-5 package. The device delivers low noise, low-output offset voltage, high thermal stability and low-light-level detection capability, making it more economical than other thermoelectrically cooled detectors. The detector's active area is 6.45 mm2. Various detector sizes, gains and electronic characteristics also are available.
