BaySpec Inc. has launched the Xantus handheld 1064-nm Raman analyzer. Designed to accommodate difficult-to-measure real-world samples and to reduce fluorescence interference, it features ultrahigh throughput, no moving parts and ruggedized performance in a package weighing <5 lb. It is suitable for applications in counterfeit drug detection, process automation technology, agricultural feed monitoring and petrochemical facilities, and in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food processing, wine and beer, and medical diagnostics sectors. Features include fast data acquisition with flexible sample identification library development, an operating temperature range from –20 to 40 °C, and a thermoelectrically cooled detector array for high sensitivity. The device can operate in >85% relative humidity environments and can be customized with various fiber optic probes.
