Chemring Detection Systems Inc. has introduced a handheld Raman spectrometer designed for use in the field by law enforcement and military personnel to aid in identifying chemicals, narcotics and explosives.
The PGR-1064 uses a 1064-nm laser to gather high-quality spectral signatures. It requires no sample preparation; data acquisition typically occurs in 2 s and the substance is identified within approximately 10 s.
A customizable and expandable library enables operators to identify more than 5000 substances, from chemical warfare agents to toxic industrial chemicals, in solid, powder and liquid form, including through clear glass and plastic containers.
