Avantes BV has unveiled the AvaSpec Sens-Line high-sensitivity spectrometers that are designed for applications such as fluorescence spectroscopy and low-light-level detection. Features include high quantum efficiency, back-thinned CCD detectors and a proprietary optical bench. The ULS2048x16-USB2 model features high quantum efficiency for measurements in the UV to NIR range (200 to 1160 nm). The effective detector height with 16 pixels of 14 μm is 224 μm, and the pixels are vertically binned. The ULS2048x64-USB2 has 64 pixels measuring 14 μm, vertically binned to an effective detector height of 900 μm, and its sensitivity is four times higher. It supports 1.75-ms integration times, and its specifications related to dark noise, etaloning, antiblooming and dynamic range are similar to those of the other model.
